Please join me in St. Marys Ontario
for Food, Joy, and Spontaneous Poetry at Riverwalk Commons
In celebration of National Poetry Month, Riverwalk Commons will host a day of friendship, food, and poetry on Saturday April 29th. Riverwalk Commons is a beautifully restored heritage building on the River Thames.
Our Poet-in-Residence for the day will be Ronna Bloom, an arts innovator, educator, and author of 6 books of poetry (with an upcoming book to be released later this year).
From 10:00am - 11:00am meet our Poet-in-Residence on the walkway outside Riverwalk Commons at a Spontaneous Poetry Booth. The process is beautifully simple: after asking you two or three questions, Ronna will write you a poem on the spot. When a poem works, it can reflect an experience that has not yet been articulated. It is on a first come-first served basis, poems are $1.
Then we will set the table for “Lunch with the Poets” in which we eat, drink, and read poems from 1:00-3:00 pm. Our chef’s catered menu is inspired by the foods favoured by famous poets, our Poet-In-Residence will read a selection of poems, and guests are invited to bring/share a favourite poem about food and joy. If it all works well, we will co-create a community poem from our afternoon together! E
Event tickets are $45 per person. Purchase your tickets here.
