On Being Woven: A Workshop for Peace
Everything we are is woven from everything else: our bodies exist because of other bodies; where we live is shaped by latitude, politics, weather; our health changes with the health of trees; our fears and wishes, griefs and longings arise in relation to each other, in awareness. This is true everywhere.
I am often verklempt *in the face of the everything of the world. Thinking now about the crisis in Gaza and Israel. What goes on there goes on in us. Differently but you can feel it, right? Just as the crisis of climate does... Plus our personal crises and extravaganzas. it's easy to get frozen. So, I'd like to invite you to join me for an hour online, where we might melt a bit via poetry.
I'll bring poems. We'll write a little, share a little, feel a little, and weave something together just by being here. Something will happen. It always does.
If you come, please bring one sentence you've read or heard by a writer, ancestor, teacher, politician or even a fictional character. Maybe MLK. Maybe Dolly Parton! Something that speaks to you now, that you need.
This online session is in the service of connection, writing and peace. It is PWYC. I will donate 60% of proceeds to Standing Together an organization of Jewish and Palestinian citizens of Israel who are working together for peace, equality and social justice.
